Professional Services FAQs
Do you accept insurance?
I believe in your right to privacy and the importance of our shared decisions regarding the course of your treatment; therefore, I am not in-network with any insurance plans. I am considered an out-of-network provider.
Some insurance plans will reimburse you for part of the cost of treatment through out-of-network provider benefits. I am happy to provide you with an insurance-compatible billing statement for you to submit to your insurance provider.
How long are individual therapy sessions?
Each session is 45 minutes in length. Session frequency is dependent on the patient; however, I recommend that patients start their therapy with a consistent weekly session.
What is play therapy?
Play therapy is a developmentally appropriate, evidence-based treatment for children. According to the Association for Play Therapy, play therapy involves “the systematic use of a theoretical model to establish an interpersonal process wherein trained play therapists use the therapeutic powers of play to help clients prevent or resolve psychosocial difficulties and achieve optimal growth and development." To put it simply, adults come to psychotherapy to express their emotions and problems; children play. The play is their language and the toys are their words.
What can I expect from Family-Based Play Therapy and Professional Counseling (in general)?
Family Based Play Therapy requires family involvement in the play therapy process, including weekly and monthly parent sessions. Counseling is a process and commitment that spans across time. In my role as your therapist, I aim to walk alongside you to discover your needs and desires. I ask that you come to our sessions ready to work together. This means meeting at the same time every week, building trust, and having someone to listen to, respond to, and provide insights.
